What is Peko Pal?

Peko Pal is a kid's first device, before the phone. It is a small handheld device with no screen: your child presses buttons, and Peko Pal answers out loud. There is nothing to watch and nothing to scroll.
Parents set it up and manage it from the Peko Pal app on an iPhone.
What a child can do with it
What a Peko Pal does depends on the apps you add to it. Apps include:
- Friends. Voice messages and calls with people you have approved, plus a walkie-talkie for nearby Peko Pals.
- AI, if you turn it on. Your child holds the button, asks a question, and hears an answer out loud. AI apps include chat, lessons on a topic you choose, and interactive stories.
- Listening. Stories, podcasts and internet radio.
- Everyday tools. A night light, a glowlight, a voice recorder and a stopwatch.
See Apps on your Peko Pal for how apps are added and removed.
The device

- A four-way direction pad and a big action button: hold to talk, tap to play or pause.
- Volume buttons and a power button.
- A four-light logo that shows what the device is doing. See the status light.
- A speaker and a built-in microphone.
- A rechargeable battery that charges over USB-C.
- Five colors: Meadow, Apricot, Butter, Sky and Blush.
What ages it's for
From their first bedtime story to the year before their first phone, roughly 3 to 12. You pick the apps that fit their age and add more as they grow.
What you need
- An iPhone for the Peko Pal app. Android is not supported yet.
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (802.11 b/g/n). Almost every home router broadcasts one; a 5 GHz-only network won't work. See Connecting your Peko Pal to WiFi.
Some things need Wi-Fi: voice messages, calls, the AI apps and internet radio. Stories and podcasts are downloaded to the device, so once they're on it they play anywhere.
Why there is no screen
Audio-only play is calmer and easier to stop than video, and it leaves the imagining to your child. Because every action gets a spoken response, a child who cannot read yet can still use the whole device on their own, by ear.
