Apps — what's on your Peko Pal, and adding more

Updated July 29, 2026

A Peko Pal does only what its apps let it do. Apps are chosen by a parent in the Peko Pal app, not by the child on the device, and they arrive over WiFi.

Where your child finds them

Everything installed shows up in the Apps section of the main menu. A quick press of the power button gets there; up and down read the list out, one name at a time; the action button opens one. That is the whole path, and it does not change as you add or remove things.

The order of the list is the order you set in the Peko Pal app, so you can put the apps your child uses most at the top.

Adding an app

In the Peko Pal app, open the store, pick an app, and add it to your child's device. It appears on the device shortly afterwards — the device fetches the new configuration and downloads whatever audio the app needs.

Some apps are just themselves: a glowlight, a stopwatch, a night light. Others need you to choose content:

  • Stories and playlists — you pick which story, or upload your own tracks. Each story is its own app on the device.
  • Podcasts — you choose the show and which episodes to sync.
  • Radio — you choose the stations.
  • Lessons — you set the topic and goal.
  • Friends — you approve who your child can reach.

Removing an app

Remove it from the device in the Peko Pal app and it disappears from the menu, along with the audio it had downloaded. Nothing else is affected, and you can add it back later. This is the normal way to retire something your child has finished with, or to shorten a list that has grown long enough to be a chore to scrub through.

Downloads and offline use

New apps and new content download over WiFi and are cached on the device, so once something has arrived it plays without a connection. A large podcast or story library can take a while on the first sync — the device stays usable throughout, and downloads continue in the background.

Good to know

  • Apps are installed per child profile, so two children sharing a household can have different sets.
  • The walkthrough that reads this guide aloud is itself an app. You can remove it once your child has heard it, and add it back if you want it again.
