Volume and brightness

Updated July 29, 2026

Volume

The two volume buttons are the only controls that work exactly the same way everywhere. Whatever app is open, whatever is playing, up is louder and down is quieter. No app can take them over, and no app can reinterpret them.

The logo briefly shows the new level as you press, so a child who cannot read a number still gets feedback that the press registered.

The volume ceiling

You set a maximum volume for the device in the Peko Pal app. Your child's volume-up button stops at that ceiling rather than at the hardware maximum, so "all the way up" means whatever you decided it means.

This is worth setting deliberately for headphone-free bedrooms and for shared spaces. It applies to every app, including alarms and incoming calls.

Brightness

The logo's maximum brightness is also set in the Peko Pal app. There is no brightness button on the device itself — brightness is a comfort setting a parent chooses once, not something a child adjusts moment to moment.

Turning it well down is the usual choice for a device that sleeps in a bedroom. The brightness ceiling applies to every light the device shows, including the night light and the status colors.

Good to know

  • Volume and brightness ceilings are per device, not per child profile.
  • The volume level itself is remembered across a power cycle. The ceiling is part of the device's configuration and arrives from the Peko Pal app.
