Berkeley
Berkeley Adventures is a chapter-book mystery series set in Berkeley, California, for ages 5 to 7. Brothers Brandt and Carter find a colony of river otters living in tunnels under their school, Oxford Elementary, and promise to keep them safe.
The books are set around real Berkeley places. A creek turns red in Strawberry Creek Park, a water main floods the school lawn, an earthquake hits on science fair night, a winter storm backs up a drain, and a summer bike trip goes looking for a lost otter colony along Codornices Creek, one of the creeks the city piped underground. Along the way, kids hear how the city's creeks, pipes and history fit together.
With their friends Maya and Jasper, the brothers solve each mystery with notebooks, clues and teamwork, and when something is unsafe they tell a trusted grown-up. The eight audiobooks run from about 35 minutes to almost an hour and a half, and the Berkeley Adventures pack lists them in order. They play on the Peko Pal without Wi-Fi.
