Radio
Radio plays live internet radio stations on your Peko Pal: music channels, story stations and more. Your child presses up and down to hear the stations you have chosen, and the action button to play or pause.
Only the stations a parent has added are available. Your child cannot add or search for stations.
The buttons
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Action button (press) | Plays the current station, or pauses it if it is playing. Pressing it while a station name is being announced pauses instead of switching. |
| Action button (hold or double-press) | Not used in this app. |
| Direction pad up | Goes to the previous station, after announcing its name. Does nothing at the first station. |
| Direction pad down | Goes to the next station, after announcing its name. Does nothing at the last station. |
| Direction pad left / right | Not used in this app. |
| Volume buttons | Louder and quieter, as in every app. |
| Power button | A quick press leaves Radio and returns to the main menu, as described in Getting around your Peko Pal. |
What you'll hear and see
- When you press up or down, your Peko Pal says the station's name (for example "2. Radio.co"). When it finishes, the new station starts, fading in gently over about two seconds.
- While a station plays, the status light fades with the sound. When paused, it breathes slowly in yellow. See the status light.
- Radio remembers the last station, so it picks up there the next time it is opened.
Settings in the Peko Pal app
Open the Pal's Radio settings to see the Stations lineup. Each station is a numbered channel, in list order. Touch and hold a station to move it, or swipe left to remove it. Add Stations takes you to the Radio section of the Store.
Tips
- Press up or down, then listen. The station only changes after its name has been read out.
- If the lineup is empty, there is nothing to play. Add a few stations in the Peko Pal app first.
- If a station has been removed, Radio moves to the first station that is left.
Good to know
- Radio needs Wi-Fi to stream. If the connection drops, it resumes by itself when Wi-Fi comes back. See Wi-Fi.
- Radio does not use the microphone, and the AI is not involved while it plays.
