Peko Pal

Podcasts

Updated September 29, 2026

Podcasts plays episodes from one kid-safe show that a parent has chosen. There is no searching or browsing, so your child can only ever hear the show you picked. Episodes are saved on the device ahead of time, and each one remembers where it was paused.

Your child opens Podcasts from the Apps section of the main menu, moves between episodes with up and down, and plays or pauses with the action button.

The buttons

Button What it does
Action button (press) Plays the current episode. Press again to pause; press again to carry on from the same spot.
Action button (double-press) Restarts the current episode from the beginning.
Action button (hold) Not used in this app
D-pad up Previous (older) episode, which starts playing straight away.
D-pad down Next (newer) episode, which starts playing straight away.
D-pad left Jumps back 15 seconds while an episode is playing.
D-pad right Jumps forward 15 seconds while an episode is playing.
Volume buttons Louder and quieter, as in every app.
Power button A quick press leaves Podcasts and returns to the main menu. See Getting around your Peko Pal.

Episodes go from oldest to newest, and up and down stop at either end instead of looping round. When an episode finishes, the next one starts on its own. After the last one, the app goes quiet.

What you'll hear and see

  • Playing an episode, you hear the show. Some shows play a short spoken announcement first, then the episode begins.
  • The logo fades gently while an episode plays. When paused or waiting, it breathes slowly in yellow. See What the glowing logo means.
  • The Pal does not speak menu prompts of its own in this app.

Settings in the Peko Pal app

Open the Podcasts app on your child's device in the Peko Pal app to see the show's episodes. Turn an episode on to save it to the device, or off to remove it. Select All and Select None change the whole list, and tapping an episode shows its details.

Tips

  • Left and right only work while an episode is actually playing, and not in the first few seconds. If nothing happens, wait a moment and try again.
  • To listen to something again, press the action button twice quickly.
  • Pausing and leaving the app is fine. Your child comes back to the same spot.

Good to know

  • The device needs Wi-Fi to fetch new episodes and settings. Once an episode is saved on the device, it plays without a connection.
  • Your child's listening is added to their listening history, which you can see in the Peko Pal app.
  • There is no AI in this app.
