Science
Science on Peko Pal comes inside stories and real questions. Kids hear how things work while they follow a mystery or a question another kid asked, with nothing to read and no screen.
In The Strawberry Creek Stain, Brandt and Carter follow a creek that has turned red, upstream from a Berkeley park toward the university, with two young creek explorers who keep a nature journal. The Earthquake Zipline starts with a quake on science fair night and walks through drop, cover and hold on, step by step, before the boys check on their otter friends. Both are Berkeley Adventures audiobooks for ages 5 to 7, and they play without Wi-Fi.
But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids, from Vermont Public, answers questions sent in by kids, with experts doing the explaining. A parent adds it to the Pal in the Peko Pal app, and its newest episodes download to the Pal, so they play without Wi-Fi too. It is a good next step for a kid who keeps asking why.
