Reading your child's conversations with Peko
When your child talks with Peko, the conversation is saved as a written transcript — what your child said and what Peko said, in order. You can read these in the Peko Pal app.
This guide explains where to find them, exactly what is and isn't saved, who can see them, and how long they're kept.
Transcripts cover talking with Peko — the AI conversation apps. Calls to family and friends, Walkie-Talkie, and voice recordings are not transcribed. See What isn't saved.
What gets saved
Only the words. Never the audio.
Peko writes down what was said as text. The actual sound of your child's voice is used to answer in the moment and is then discarded — it is never stored, and there is no recording of it for you or anyone else to play back.
Each conversation is saved as its own transcript, showing:
- what your child said, turn by turn,
- what Peko said back,
- the time of each turn.
This happens for every conversation app — Peko Bot, Story Time, Adventure Time, and Jokes — since they're all the same talking feature with a different personality.
Where to find them
- Open the Peko Pal app and choose your child's device.
- Look under Recent Activity. A conversation appears as its own entry, like "Talked with Peko Bot."
- Tap that entry to open the transcript.
Recent Activity on the device's main screen covers today. To read a conversation from an earlier day, open Usage and move back to the day you want — the activity for that day is listed there, and conversations open the same way.
Reading a conversation
A transcript reads like a chat: your child's turns on one side, Peko's on the other, each with the time it was said.
If your child talked with Peko a few times close together, those chats are grouped into a single entry — for example, "Talked with Peko Bot 2 times." Opening it shows every conversation in that group, one after another, each under its own heading with its start time ("Conversation 1," "Conversation 2," and so on) so you can tell where one ended and the next began.
Who can see them
Anyone signed in to your family's account in the Peko Pal app can open and read transcripts — the same people who can already see the rest of the device's activity. There is no separate, more restricted access just for transcripts.
Transcripts can only ever be read in the app. They can't be edited or deleted from the app, by you or anyone else.
How long they're kept
Transcripts are deleted automatically 90 days after the conversation. You don't need to do anything — it happens on its own.
There's currently no way to delete a transcript sooner, and no way to export or save a copy before it's removed.
Can I turn this off?
Not right now. Transcripts are saved for every conversation, and there is no per-child setting to switch them off. If your child uses a talking app, that conversation will be written down.
If you'd rather your child not have AI conversations at all, you can choose not to install the conversation apps (Peko Bot, Story Time, Adventure Time, Jokes) on their device. Everything else on the Peko Pal — music, stories, calling, Walkie-Talkie, and the offline apps — works without them.
Peko remembers recent conversations
Peko uses these transcripts to keep a conversation going:
- If the Pal drops off WiFi or restarts and your child starts talking again within a couple of minutes, Peko picks up where it left off instead of saying hello again.
- Within the hour, Peko knows roughly what you talked about last and may offer to keep going.
- Your child can ask about earlier chats ("let's keep talking about what we talked about yesterday"), and Peko looks them up.
Each conversation gets a short summary when it ends, which is how Peko finds it later. To turn this off, open your child's settings and switch off Remember Conversations. Transcripts are still saved either way.
What isn't saved
Not everything your child does with their voice is transcribed. These are not written down:
| Feature | What's saved |
|---|---|
| Calls with family and friends | Only that a call happened, and how long it lasted. Never what was said. |
| Walkie-Talkie | Only that it was used. Never what was said. |
| Voice recordings (Recorder) | The recording stays on the device itself. It isn't uploaded or transcribed. |
| Podcasts, radio, playlists | Only what was played. There's no microphone involved. |
Troubleshooting
I don't see a conversation I know happened
- Check you're looking at the right day. The device's main screen shows today only — for anything earlier, open Usage and move back to that day.
- Transcripts appear shortly after the conversation, not always instantly. If your child just finished talking, give it a moment and check again.
- If the device was offline or lost power during the conversation, some or all of it may not have been saved. See Why is part of a conversation missing?
The entry won't open
An entry can only be opened if there's a transcript behind it. If tapping does nothing, no transcript was saved for that conversation — most often because the device lost connection or power partway through.
Why is part of a conversation missing?
A transcript is a reliable record, not a guaranteed word-for-word one.
Each turn is sent as it's spoken. If the device loses its internet connection or loses power in the middle of a conversation, the turns it hadn't sent yet can be lost. What you see is what reached us — treat it as an accurate account of the conversation, but not proof that nothing else was said.
A reply from Peko looks cut off
Very long single replies are shortened before being saved. When that happens the turn is clearly marked as shortened, so you'll always know you're looking at a trimmed reply rather than the whole thing. Your child heard the full answer out loud — only the saved text is trimmed.

Good to know
A quick summary of how transcripts work:
- Text only — the sound of your child's voice is never stored.
- Every conversation with Peko Bot, Story Time, Adventure Time, or Jokes is saved. There's no per-child off switch today.
- Kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically. No manual delete, no export.
- Read-only in the app — transcripts can't be edited or removed.
- Anyone on your family's account can read them.
- Not everything is transcribed — calls, Walkie-Talkie, and voice recordings are not.
- Turns can be lost if the device goes offline or loses power mid-conversation.
